Sill conflicted....

So the last few days I decided I wanted to do a magazine that draws the audiences eye. In my last post I said that I wanted to use strong or neon colors to really capture the readers attention.

As it says in article Glamour, "Fashion has, recently, gotten brighter. A lot brighter. Like construction vest bright. Neon clothes are everywhere." As I was doing research, I came across this article that sparked my idea. Many street-style stars and celebrities really embracing neon such as "Sarah Paulson's lime green Prada dress for the Oceans 8 premiere to Rihanna and Tracee Ellis Ross doing their best impression of Barbie dolls in fuchsia gowns. Blake Lively loves a lime green suit. Kylie has been known to go all out in all neon orange looks. So has Bella Hadid." My target audience definitely follows all of these people and know who they are which is why it would be important to me to sell them something that they know is in.

Neon colors are fun and bright and one way to do that is by taking or editing the photo with strong background colors of the photo.

In this magazine, the neon colors really pop up and are aesthetically pleasing. The bright colors look more modern and the combination of them are interesting to the eye. This magazine looks like its the trend and really would catch someones attention.

Not only is the background interesting but so is the models outfit. Her pink hair all the way to her pink socks make a connection with the background.

Anyway, thats been my idea that I have prioritized the most because I find it fascinating. In my next post I will be finalizing my idea and start my layout and drawings.

Brainstorming Fashion Themes...

As I said in my last post, my genre for the magazine will be FASHION!!!

Where do I start now? There are way to many styles and trends that I can do my magazine on but what theme would be best for my magazine.

Since I was able to decide on my genre pretty fast and the second week is about to start, I have decided to start researching what stories and themes would be best for my fashion magazine and the target audience. Typically since the audience ranges from 16-30, what theme would be ideal for them?

One of my ideas is to create a magazine that is visual-centric, it has visual triggers to evoke a full outpouring of excitement and the absolute joy of reading the magazine.

This idea consists of using strong and neon colors to really capture the readers attention.

I am still researching ideas for my theme and my story but by the end of this week I will let you all know what it will be writing my magazine on!

T- Minus 42 Days

With only one month and thirteen days, I have officially started the journey towards my magazine spread. I will be working by myself in this project and have laid out a timeline as to how the next couple of weeks will go.

Before picking a genre, I wanted to start out with the how timeline would be developed and accomplished.

My first  will be dedicated on story research such as in-depth research of the genre and researching similar stories that are told in this specific genre. Looking at the genres, characters, plot aspects I want to include in my magazine are extremely important.

My second week will be to find a captivating story to tell and doing in depth research with what i want to portray in my magazine. Creating outlines, layout drawings, storyboards will be part of the second and third week.

My third or fourth week will consist of taking the pictures and editing them on to the cover, contents and the double-page spread.

By the end of March, I will be on my fifth week going onto my last week in which I will still be finishing my magazine and additional time to add anything that I need.

As of now, I have already passed week one which is finding the best genre. I've decided that I want to produce a fashion magazine because was to sticking to the fashion industry really inspires and passionates me to make this project the best!

Music Marketing

My project for the music marketing campaign consisted of developing a way to make a band/artist famous and distribute their music throughout the target audience. The song I was assigned was a rock song which is why my group and I decided a band would be more appropriate. During the research, my group and I discovered that the target audience for rock bands were mostly male and from ages 18-30. This made us realize that the best way to market our music was through social media.

Our band "Dark Souls" made an Instagram, Snapchat and an online website. The Instagram was made for audiences to interact with the artists and for them to promote their new songs and music videos as well as their merchandise. The website was for people to easily read more about them and find out their next tour date. Another marketing creation was to have the band open concerts for bigger bands that could lead them to have a similar audience. Our last marketing creation that we thought was very important was to create a video game with our band. After it was dropped we would have an Arcade day that would lure fans to participate and the band would give free giveaways and would really involve the audience.

Throughout this project I learned that researching the target audience was one of the most important things because that is how you figure out the best marketing campaigns for the artist/band. This will impact my portfolio project because I will make sure to really look into the market audience for my magazine genre.
